Locks are another type of decorative hardware. They are not only functional to keep a cabinet, drawer or door locked but they are also a design touch. Some people use the lock look on a piece yet it isn’t ever made for locking. Always know where the keys are and have an extra set in case any get lost if you are going to have a locking functioning cabinet.

Antiques can be a beautiful part of your home. But if you cannot functionally use the pieces they might be taking up valuable space in your home. You can make an antique functional by adding hardware to the piece. You can find antique looking hardware in a home improvement center that looks like the pieces original hardware of that time period. This way you can have a functional piece of really cool looking antique furniture.
