The hardware you choose for your furniture may be at the very bottom of your to do list but should not be ignored when you are putting the finishing touches in your home. The hardware should always accent the design, even if it is an eclectic one. Make the hardware on your furniture functional and dècor friendly to have the most effect on a room and its detailing.

A children’s room is a fun place to play with the hardware in your room. If you have a set of bins that need knobs you can find hardware to compliment the theme. Say you have a jungle theme in the room. You can find animal knobs to embellish the bins. They your child can know the blocks go in the monkey bin and cars go in the giraffe bin and so on.

Where there is a ceiling fan there is an opportunity for a design embellishment. You can purposefully add a small touch by having more than a chain hanging from your fan. A cute embellishment such as a shell for a breezy look or a wood know for a country classic look can make all the difference in a room and give it a finishing touch.

Antiques are a great place to add furniture hardware. You can jazz up a piece of furniture and add items to it to make it functional and a great designed look like it came with the piece in the first place. You can add complimentary items by finding them in many home improvement design shops. You can even purposefully mismatched items as long as they blend all together.

Match styles in your hardware that match the piece or era you are putting it on. Placing an elephant knob on a plastic black bin for a music room might not look all that great. Unless you are going for purposefully gaudy, which is a design style, don’t do it. But make it clear and not like it was a mistake. If you are going to make a room fun then make the room purposefully fun. Do not to look like an €˜oops’ leaving people to wonder what you were thinking.

Your guests may not notice small embellishments in your home with furniture hardware but they will notice that it has a great feel. The little things will add up. What they will notice is an embellishment that is over powering and stands out in a room that makes it look gaudy.
