2012 Remodeling Trends

2012 Brings a Whole New Bag of Ideas

Just because the economy is on the brinks right now, doesn’t mean that you have to put off your remodeling plans. No matter what your budget is, 2012 home renovation trends prove to have something for any budget. No matter what your budget is, you still can perform some type of renovation to your home and keep up with the trends for 2012. Change your faucets, add crown modeling, change your lighting, try some faux painting and you can change the looks of your home while raising its value. Who says you have to spend a fortune on remodeling? Save the big projects for when you have the extra money; make little changes that have a big punch. New trends are suggesting that instead of powering tons of colors and accent pieces into a room, homeowners are more likely to settle on a few, solid items of furniture and some accents. When it comes to furniture, natural fibers, recycled metals, and sustainable wood products and other “green” materials rush to the head of the class. The color of choice for accents, drum roll, is red. Note this is the accent color and not the entire room color as in years past.

Even though you may not want to spend a lot, there are remodeling projects that you can still afford to do. Adding Crown molding to the upper portion of your room will add that needed appeal that will make you feel like you’re living in a palace.

Crown molding can make a large difference in the looks of a room. Crown molding comes in all styles, thicknesses and the alike, just choose something that “fits” in the room. You can do this with any project, whether it is kitchen remodeling, bathroom remodeling or a bedroom makeover. Crown molding can take any room from drab to fabulous.

Changing out your faucets in the kitchen or bath or even changing lighting fixtures here and there can make a big difference in the looks and value of your home while taking very little out of your pocket. Replacing that 1950s light above the dining table with a beautiful, stainless steel chandelier can definitely bring you into the trendy side of things. Let’s not forget the faux painting finishes. Instead of buying the marble to go around the fireplace, how about painting a faux marble finish? It gives you the look of marble and will save your pocketbook.

That’s right. Little changes can make a world of difference. In 2012, consumers are scared to spend too much on their home improvement projects; however, if you can provide even the smallest budget, you can still make the upgrades to increase the value of your home. If you do have a larger budget, spend it where it counts: on things that can help you save money, like new windows and doors.

2012 home remodeling trends are budget friendly alternatives that provide a big punch. Keeping it simple seems to be the trend to date. Waiting to do the major remodeling is something that people are waiting on and refacing is big right now. People have decided they have what they need in their own home, so are just fixing it up so it is up to date, purposeful, and hygienic and what looks good. They want it to be easy to clean and maintain, and get rid of tiny little tiles with grout problems. Those who are hired to do a lot of these jobs report the use of a lot of 12×24 porcelain tiles, and even seeing people moving away from natural stone in the bath for ease of cleaning. For the kitchen, there is a lot of refacing going on for kitchen cabinets. This is a simple way to make your kitchen look a whole lot better and more up to date. Stripping wallpaper is another way to update your look. Using new hardware on your cabinets and doors is another great little trick. You can do the same in the bathroom if you choose to and have the same effect in a simple way.
